Discussion on Labor Situation and Labor Day protest rally
Women WISE discussed the situation of the labor sector in the morning of May 1, Labor Day. Right after lunch, they join the ranks of thousands of workers and supporters in a momentous Labor Day protest rally in Plaza Miranda, Manila. Together they shout their calls for better wages, decent jobs, justice and livelihood to the Government.
Pen and Notebook Campaign
One June 1, Center for Trade Union and Human Rights and Women WISE3 gives away school supplies to 29 children of victims of human rights and labor rights violations.
4th Year Anniversary
Families of victims of labor rights and human rights violations jog for justice livelihood and jobs as Women WISE celebrates its 4th Anniversary last September 1. In the afternoon, they held a discussion on livelihood programs and building cooperatives.
Jogging against Child Labor
Members of Women WISE3 and Samahan ng mga Manggagawa at Kristiyanong Pamayanan jog once again to combat child labor last October 6. This activity is subsequent to a study of CTUHR on child labor and workers’ situation in oil plantation in CARAGA.
Women WISE3 First National Assembly
Women WISE3 helds its first National Assembly last October 26 where members planned the future of the network. Prior to the planning, they shared their thoughts on the impact of globalization on women and held a workshop on the issues confronting women in the community.
International Human Rights Day
On the International Human Rights Day, December 10, Women WISE3 members held a protest action in front of the Department of Labor and Employment in the morning. There they submitted letters of appeal to Sec. Baldoz on the cases confronted by Women WISE3 members: criminal and labor case of Karnation, labor case of LCE workers, enforced disappearance of Rogelio Concepcion, child labor in CARAGA, and the death of Eton. In the afternoon, they joined workers and human rights defenders in a mobilization to commemorate IHRD.
Paskuhan sa Piket line
An annual event organized by Women WISE3 where Christmas celebration is held in the picket lines instead in fancy venues. Last Dec 15, 2012, Women WISE3 together with Church People-Workers Solidarity (CWS), SMKP, Ecumenical Institute of Labor Education and Research (EILER), and families of Eton victims showed solidarity with 3MR workers in their local struggle. In the picket line, they played games for children, had fun activities and celebrated the Christmas spirit.
Women WISE3 Breakthroughs for 2012
Women WISE3 adopts WEA Wise products and turns it to a livelihood project for all members of the network. Handmade fabric conditioner, detergent powder and the best seller dishwashing liquid are WISE first products.
With the new branding and label design launched in December 2012, WISE products will be available to a wider market this 2013: Creating a better future for workers, indeed!
